When Stones Shatter

Moses descends
carrying fire carved stones

The mountain trembles
the sky still whispering

Below  –
a circle of gold
spinning certainty
from fear

Did they want God
or something
they could hold

Moses broken revelation
against the earth

Hardened stones cannot
live for long in the heart,
it could take life times
to soften fear

The first covenants
shattered,
the second written
inside breath

Tablets whole and broken
rest in the Ark,
within our hearts

Holiness never discards
what has cracked open

These are the blessings
and the lessons we carry -
within lifetimes of Torah
