The Covenant Remembered

Lingering at the top of the hill of eternity
the vastness that lies ahead
the agreement made with God
to walk down the mountain
slowly, ever so slowly,
hesitating to enter the womb –
Looking back one more time,
turning to God as was said:

“It is your time
to enter the wilderness.
We walk with you in faith.
Along the way, you will forget — many times —
but you will return to remembering.
This is your faith.
On this earth you are safe.”

The soul lies quietly at rest in my mother's womb,
waiting for its time in 1953.
Entering our home of dark green,
knowing then it would not be an easy journey,
there was beauty in all of it —
yet beauty is not always pretty.

Remembering the vision from the top of the hill,
the vast expanse chosen to explore,
entering this life with God by my side,
angels in support all around me,
through this journey into the unknown,
I will find my way home to Wisdom.

And once more I was told:

“Todd Emerson, this is your journey to write.
We love you,
Hashem – and the angels
who walk beside you.
