Simchat Torah
No longer do I have to hide
as the veils fade away,
and I stand in the light
of the life I have been given -
with all its toil and all its joy -
I allow the self to be seen
Beneath the shadow of Your wings,
Adonai, our God
when we lie down and when we rise up
we meditate on Your laws
and your commandments
Rejoicing in Your Torah,
accepting all that has been offered,
through suffering to redemption -
to the threshold of beginning once again,
We remember, Adonai our God
what we learned from our fathers-
The God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob,
Aaron and Moses-
and from our mothers-
The God of Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel
Leah, and Miriam
Grant us the wisdom of Joshua,
so that we too may enter
the Promised Land
With our hearts lifted high,
we dance with the Torah,
the scroll of light within us-
its letters breathing through our souls-
as this new year begins
