The Kol Nidre-Yom Kippur path
As broken shards of creation
we live within the illusion
that we must find our way back to wholeness.
It seems as though this cannot be avoided.
At Kol Nidre,
in the Yom Kippur journey,
as Angels hover close
we enter the Sanctuary tent.
In the stillness of reflection,
seeing beyond the paradox
we are tasked with praying
to those who listen—
to Elohim,
to the ancestors who protect,
for the generations yet to come -
we beat on our chests,
asking for our brokenness to be seen.
In song, in worship,
in the melodies we hear,
in the deep reflection for repair,
we ask ourselves:
Are we willing to go there this year—
to the wholeness that waits?
May this coming year
bring our broken pieces together—
whether by stitch, or glue, or gold.
May it be so.
