Walking in Her Shadow

Freed of the mask,
we sometimes choose
to hide.

Arising from fear,
perhaps from safety,
some wear costumes upon the face,
unaware they are hiding from themselves.

God is aware —
  waiting for us to be free
  of the hidden foes
  with whom we struggle —

Those that have brought us to this moment —
choosing now not to hide what is inside:
the Divine Romance. 

We remember Esther,
doing what she had to do,
somewhat against her will —
until she was ready to reveal
the truth of who she was.

May we raise ourselves
into Esther’s light,
walking in her shadow.
