So much wanted
To be seen
To be known
Wanting to be shown

We created images
For the camera's eye
That we hid behind
Pretending they were true

Peel back the corner of the photo
Is there something behind the image
Ready to be revealed
Aching to be healed

There’s a black and white
Photo in the box
In the basement
Browning at the edges

No longer works
Though it always saw
What was hidden

We just had to dig the image
Out of the box in the basement,
Add some light to it so we can
See what the camera already knew
